mdw awards two internal grants under Austria's Studienförderungsgesetz (Student Support Act): the Leistungsstipendium, which recognizes outstanding academic and artistic achievement (StFG section 57), and the Förderungsstipendien, which funds the costs of a specific scientific or artistic project such as a thesis, film production, or composition. Both are administered through the Büro der Studiendirektorin (Office of the Academic Director), which publishes the exact application windows and required documents each year on the mdw stipendien portal.
